Metro United Way has announced Jeremy Jarvi will be the organization’s new chief development officer, effective April 22.

Jarvi will provide strategic direction and development for MUW’s fundraising and donor relations to help ensure the Greater Louisville region has thriving kids, strong households and an equitable community, according to a news release.

“Metro United Way has a rich history of tackling tough issues. As a lifelong Louisvillian, I am passionate about our region’s prosperity and want to be a part of the solution to ensure everyone has the same opportunities, children and families are positioned for success, and basic needs are met,” said Jarvi in the release. “I am excited to join a team that is committed to convening all stakeholders to move our community forward.”

Prior to this, Jarvi served as the inaugural executive director of the LouCity & Racing Foundation, which provides access to soccer for all youth, with a focus on removing barriers and teaching life skills, healthy habits and nutrition. He was also the regional chief development officer for the American Red Cross, a longtime partner of MUW, and before that, the director for investments and sponsorships at Greater Louisville Inc.

Jarvi’s experience, strategic vision, relationship building, and commitment to being part of transformational change made him a top candidate among a national pool of qualified individuals, the release said.

“Although this position attracted fantastic candidates from around the country, choosing Jeremy was a unanimous choice by the hiring committee–made up of longtime volunteers and donors of Metro United Way,” said Adria Johnson President and CEO of MUW. “I’m thrilled for Jeremy to join our team and see how he grows our resources to help make our community better for everyone.”

As Chief Development Officer, Jarvi will provide strategic leadership at a pivotal time in MUW’s 107-year history. The nonprofit recently shifted from a “historical funding model” to one of transformational impact to accelerate needed change in the Greater Louisville region — moving from investing in nonprofits to investing in issues and solutions — with an aim to be the premier impact and fundraising organization in our community.

Jarvi’s professional recognitions include Louisville Business First’s 40 Under 40 (2019), the Lucy Award presented by the Family Scholar House (2018), the Excellence in Leadership Award from the American Red Cross (2018), Louisville Business First’s 20 People to Know in Nonprofits (2015), NFocus Magazine’s Five New Faces of Philanthropy (Honoree and Overall Winner, 2013), the William T. Young UK National Alumni Association Young Alumni Award (2013), and the Dr. Richard Wolfe Leadership In Action Award (2011).

Jeremy and his wife, Kristen, have two sons, Landon (13) and Tate (10), and reside in Louisville.
