Congratulations to Trinity’s Tyler Solon, Class of 2025! This past summer, Tyler was chosen as the first student from Kentucky to attend the selective ACE (Architecture, Construction, Engineering) Mentor summer program at the University of Colorado Denver. Tyler has been a member of Trinity’s local ACE Mentor chapter for the past three years, participating in the design of the state-of-the-art STEM building planned at Trinity. Mr. Walter Melnyk, the Trinity ACE Mentor chapter supervisor, as well as local affiliates, encouraged Solon’s participation in the Denver program.
The annual summer program hosts high school students from across the US, affording Tyler the ability to connect with a variety of students who seek to further their education in the ACE disciplines. The participants met with CU Denver professors and local professionals joining in dialogue and hands-on learning; completed site visits to innovative architecture firms in the area; and traveled to Red Rocks Amphitheater with the construction firm in charge of roofing at the unique venue. The group was ultimately tasked with designing and creating models for futuristic sustainable cities. “Knowledge from my Trinity classes in Engineering, Math, and CAD allowed me to collaborate and lead efforts within my group during the project development”, Solon commented. “I am extremely grateful for the education and support that Trinity has provided to afford participation in this meaningful experience.”
Congratulations, Tyler!
