All Saints Day

Friday, Nov. 1, is All Saints Day, a holy day of obligation in the Catholic Church. There will not be an all-school mass at Trinity, but students are encouraged to attend mass at their home parishes that evening. Mass will be offered in the Trinity Chapel as usual at 7:20 a.m. and again at 2:05 p.m. All Saints Day is a holy day dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. Although millions, or even billions of people may already be saints, All Saints' Day observances tend to focus on known saints --that is those recognized in the canon of the saints by the Catholic Church. But we are invited on this day, to think of the many, ordinary, good people who walked with God in their daily lives and who have died. Nov. 1 is their feast day - the unmentioned saints - who now live in God's presence.
