Congratulations to Trinity’s Todd Goodwin ’27 and Ben Stone ’25 for earning their Eagle Scout. Below is a little bit more about how each student earned their rank:
Todd Goodwin, Class of 2027
Todd Goodwin earned the rank of Eagle Scout from BSA Troop 317 at Christ Church United Methodist. For his Eagle project, Todd completed a Turtle Sanctuary for the Lower School Science room at Walden School where he attended K-8th grade. "When I was in lower school one of my favorite things was the koi pond in Mrs. A’s science room. I wanted to replace the leaky pond that had been removed so that current and future students could experience their own Walden Pond." Todd designed the sanctuary with a land area and a pond for two yellow-bellied sliders and built it alongside members from his troop.
He enjoyed introducing the sliders and their new home to the lower school students at Walden during an assembly. Todd started in BSA as a Cub Scout and got hooked on hiking and camping. He has enjoyed several high adventure trips including Aquabase at Camp Pfeffer and a backpacking trip at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico during which he served as his troop's Crew Leader. He continues to participate in Troop 317 and especially enjoys their annual trips to Shootapalooza at Camp Crooked Creek and backpacking at Lake Monroe.
Here at Trinity, Todd is on the swim team and the track team. He is a member of Beta Club and participates in ACE Mentoring and Key Clubs. Todd is also currently planning to start a squash club at Trinity.
Ben Stone, Class of 2025
Ben Stone joined Scouts in first grade and earned his Eagle with Troop 317 last year. Ben also did his project at Walden, where they asked him to make an outdoor ping-pong table for their greenspace. He built the table in pieces at home over several weeks, worked with students in the art department to paint the top, and then led a crew of scouts and adults from his troop to assemble it at the school.
Ben’s highlight of scouting was three trips to Sea Base High Adventure Camps in the Florida Keys and US Virgin Islands to scuba dive and learn to sail. Ben plays the drums in Trinity’s jazz and Liturgy bands.
Todd and Ben were in the same troop for many years and had a joint Eagle ceremony last spring.
