TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL
2024 HONOR ALUMNUS AWARD
PRESENTED TO
PAUL F. RESCH ’76
Each spring, the Trinity High School Alumni Association recognizes a brother alumnus as the year’s Honor Alumnus. The award is presented to a Trinity graduate who is committed to living his life based on Gospel values; is a recognized leader in his community and/or chosen career; and who values his Trinity education and remains loyal to his alma mater.
A member of the Trinity Class of 1976, Paul F. Resch has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Honor Alumnus Award.
Many people give their time, talent and treasure to wonderful organizations. Few do it with the passion and commitment of Paul.
Paul enrolled at Trinity in 1972 after graduating from Holy Spirit Catholic School. He is one of four brothers to graduate from Trinity. The others are Phil ’67, Steve ’69 and Casper ’77. Paul also has a sister, Michele (Sacred Heart Academy, 1970).
Unfortunately, Paul lost both his parents prior to his graduating from Trinity. His father, Phil Resch Sr., was a founding member and past president of the Trinity Boosters, and his mother, Esther (Presentation Academy, 1938), was a volunteer for the Boosters Moms. The early loss of his parents taught Paul the value of his family and that of his extended human family and Trinity Family.
Paul learned of, accepted and now lives the values that Trinity teaches. He was a leader among his classmates and remains so to this day. As a member of the football team, he gained an understanding of leadership, teamwork, discipline and compassion.
After graduating from Trinity, Paul attended the University of Louisville, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1983. His professional career began in Louisville in 1979 when he owned and operated his own contract cleaning business for six years. He sold the business and went to work for a Fortune 500 company in Cleveland, Ohio.
After several career moves throughout the Northeast, Paul returned to Louisville in 1990 to work for Cardinal Industrial Insulation, owned by the Mueller family. In 2004, he became a business development manager for ASI Limited, a top-10 glass and glazing contractor in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2023, Paul completed his career with the Marian Group, which develops, builds and manages multi-unit affordable housing and market-rate units.
Paul never forgot his Trinity roots. He served on the Alumni Board of Directors from 1989-94. In 1992, he served as the first board chair under the current 15-member board structure and helped to develop the by-laws that are still in use today. He also served as chair of the Trinity School Board from 2021-23.
Additionally, Paul has served as a Class Agent and a member of Team Trinity. He also was instrumental in founding the Class of 1976 Endowed Scholarship, which was one of Trinity’s first endowed class scholarships and a model for many other reunion class gifts. Additionally, for many years Paul was pivotal to the success of Trinity’s annual Open House, serving as point man for the alumni classroom presenters and always greeting visitors with a warm smile and welcoming handshake.
Paul has been honored by Trinity on two previous occasions. In 2011, he was inducted into the Trinity Hall of Fame. Inductees are recognized for having a record of acknowledged leadership in their chosen field or community; outstanding stewardship to Trinity measured by time, talent and treasure; outstanding performance and distinguished achievement while employed by Trinity; and/or a record of outstanding performance and distinguished achievement in academics, athletics or extracurricular activities as a Trinity student. In 2013, he received the Monsignor Alfred W. Steinhauser Award for his outstanding support and service to Trinity.
Paul’s service also benefitted the Catholic community of Louisville. He served on the committee that oversaw the renovation of the chapel at Sacred Heart Academy and volunteered with the youth ministry program at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. For five years in the 1980s, Paul served as a volunteer probation officer.
In 1997, at age 39, Paul was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. This event in his life had a profound impact, not only on his personal and professional life, but on his spiritual journey of life as well.
Paul channeled his passion for living into causes related to leukemia and other blood-related cancers. He was a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Board for Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter from 1999-2007, including serving as board president from 2003-05. He also served as a Board of Representative on the national board for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of New York. Additionally, Paul was chairman of the board for Sailing for a Cure Foundation, a non-profit organization he helped found in 2010.
Paul and his wife, Kathryn, live in Louisville and have two daughters, Corinne (Sacred Heart Academy, 2012) and Caroline (Sacred Heart Academy, 2014).
