Earth and Spirit Center - Junior Retreat

Dear Juniors and Junior Parents,

This year’s Junior Retreat is Finding God in Nature. Held outdoors at the Earth and Spirit Center, this retreat focuses on being a part of creation and understanding what it means to care for our environment instead of dominating it. This email contains all the information you and your son need for his retreat day. Information will also be shared with him in theology class, through TTV, and through an email sent to him the day before his retreat.

There is a permission form on PowerSchool that must be completed (via the Parent Portal) before your son’s retreat.

  • Go to trinity.rocks and click on the PowerSchool link.
  • Use the web-based PowerSchool and not the mobile app.
  • Use your parent log in information and find the Junior Retreat Day - Waiver and Release form under the Forms tab. Do not use your son’s log in.
  • Contact Joy Durbin, 736-2112, with any PowerSchool questions.
  • Juniors report directly to the cafeteria by 8 a.m. on the day of retreat. (Don’t go to Advising)
  • What to wear: Long pants or shorts. Boots or old, sturdy athletic shoes. T-shirt and a long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt/jacket depending on the weather.
  • What to bring: Bagged lunch. Water bottle. Bug spray and sunscreen. A small bag or backpack to keep and carry your items. Lunches and waters can be purchased through FLIK if they are forgotten.

Juniors are assigned alphabetically, with 24 students and 2 faculty members per day.

  • October 2: Abney-Black
  • October 3: Bland-Cavote
  • October 5: Cederholm-DeBellis
  • October 19: Deitz-Frick
  • October 23: Geddie-Hickman
  • October 26: Higgins-Kammeyer
  • October 30: Karem-Massey
  • March 26: Masticola-O’Connor
  • March 38: Oetken-Reul
  • April 11: Ribenboim-Schuhmann
  • April 15: Scobee-Supsky
  • April 18: Sydenstricker-White
  • April 30: Whitty-Woosley

If your son is absent on his assigned day, he will be rescheduled to another date.

The entire day will be spent outside.

  • If light rain or isolated showers are expected, the retreat will still take place.
  • If heavy rains or thunderstorms are forecast, the decision whether to postpone will be made the morning of the retreat. Your son should come to school prepared for retreat, but he should also be prepared to be sent to class if the day is postponed.

If you have any questions, please contact Assistant Campus Minister, Mr. Chris Luken, at luken@trinityrocks.com or (502) 736-8231.
