The Speech and Debate Rocks recently returned from Phoenix and the National Speech and Debate Tournament! The Rocks, Ben McBride '23, Joseph Eng '23, Hayden Deitz '25, Ian Beierle '25, did well in competition with recent grad Ben McBride leading the way. Ben advanced to round six of Extemporaneous Debate. In this event, students are given a resolution/topic and they are assigned a side which they must argue. They have 30 minutes to prepare any way they choose for this fast-paced debate. Out of the 1040 students entered, Ben placed at 123. He was the only student from Kentucky to advance out of prelims and he placed better than over 900 other competitors. Congrats, Rocks!
